Why a one-time purchase instead of a subscription?
Because Hapi runs entirely on your Mac. There are no servers to pay for, no cloud costs to recoup. A one-time price is honest. It also means you own the app — not a license that evaporates if you stop paying.
What is the difference between Free, Local, and Pro?
Free gets you real-time voice notes — perfect if you just want fast, accurate dictation. Local (€79) unlocks the full app: meetings, on-device AI summaries, Ask Hapi chat, plays, and integrations. Pro (€129) adds optional cloud LLM with your own API key, iOS sync, and lifetime updates to every future version.
Why is Local frozen at one version?
Local is the current build, locked in time — bug fixes and features beyond your activation version are part of the Pro plan. If you bought Local and want the update stream, you can upgrade to Pro at any time.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every first launch starts a 30-day Pro trial — no key required. When it expires, the app falls back to Free unless you activate a license.
When does iOS sync arrive?
The iOS app is built and goes to TestFlight shortly after the v4 launch. Pro buyers get iOS sync automatically when it ships — no extra purchase, no upgrade path.
Do my words ever leave my Mac?
On Free and Local, never. On Pro, only if you opt in by adding an OpenRouter API key — and even then only the text routes you choose, with zero-retention enforced. Audio, embeddings, and your local database stay on-device on every plan.
